You May Need Help pt 1

You May Need Help and Don't Even Know It

Part 1

Have you ever talked to a family member or a friend about getting help for X and they deny they have a problem? We all have had this experience at one time or another. It's really sad that the person in question doesn't get the help they need.

Have you thought about yourself in getting help for X?

We all like to think that we are OK and maybe even perfect. It's just the rest of the world that is wrong. Have you ever thought about this about yourself?

Don't be afraid to admit it, we've all been there. Sure, we might admit that we have an emotional problem, such as fear. Or we might admit that we have a physical problem, such as lower back pain, but what about the rest or your emotions or physical conditions?

The best treatment in the world will not help if you don't freely and candidly admit an emotional/physical problem. Since this site is about EFT, as good as EFT is, it can not help those who deny they have anything wrong with them.

Let's take an honest inventory of yourself and find out what is wrong. Say it to yourself so no one knows about it. Then check out Emotional Freedom Technique and see what they can do. You can be sure that you were not the first one that has come through the door of your EFT practitioner with that problem.

Perhaps you really don't know that you have a negative emotional issue because you don't know the signs of it. This series of articles is to explore some of the signs of a couple of emotional problems and you check to see if that is you. If it's not, does this sound like someone you know?
Let's take a look at...

Procrastination

You might say something like, “I don't have procrastination as I don't put things off.” Putting things off doing is the outward sign of procrastination, but there are underlying conditions to that. If you don't know what they are, maybe you really do have procrastination. Here they are:
Perfectionism, anger, need to manipulate others, doubts about your ability to perform, fear of success, fear of failure...just to name a few.

Procrastination is a double-edged sword. By putting things off it reinforces your negative attitude about doing something. It leads to deeper feelings of self-doubt, guilt, inadequacy and shame.

For example, if you are a perfectionist and you know that you just can't make something perfect, you procrastinate so you don't have to do it. If you have self-doubts about your ability to perform, by not performing (doing what you know you should do), you don't have to face this situation.

I hope you can see how issues are related to each other. By just looking at one emotional problem, you may think, “I don't have this problem.”

Do you have the following self-talk to yourself that would include the following?
Procrastination keeps me safe.

When I procrastinate, I don't have to worry about failing or succeeding.
Procrastination allows me to control others.
Other people expect too much of me.
I hate to be criticised.
It takes to long to do things, so I'd rather not even start.
I like it when other people get upset I procrastinate.
I'd rather not do this because it will not be perfect.
What other self-talk do you have? Write it down.

As you know, IF you procrastinate it can hold you back in life, and you will not be happy living because you are not happy with yourself. Now, write down all the things that procrastination keeps from you.

Did you come up with things like:

causing a bad relationship with your family
loss of work
low pay
not being financially security
If procrastination is one of your issues, I highly recommend that you start with EFT. You will see how fast, easy and effective it is.
